Become a Follower of Christ
When anyone becomes a Christian he [she] becomes a new person inside. The old passes away, a new life has begun. 2 Corinthians 5:17 LB
God created all of us to have fellowship with Him. We were made to know and love Him and experience His overflowing love, grace, and blessing toward us. Unfortunately, we defied God by going our way, thinking we really know what is best for our lives. The Bible calls this sin. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from Him. This is called “Salvation” which comes only through Jesus Christ, a gift of God’s amazing grace, which we cannot have by our human efforts, but is given to us when we repent and believe in Him. The Bible calls this becoming “born again”, which stamps us as His “followers.” Becoming a follower of Christ simply means we are Christians who trust Christ with our lives. Every day, we learn something new in terms of what it means to be Christ’s “followers.” We believe the Gospel, which makes us followers, is composed of ten (10) simple words, “Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead,” which we recite every Sunday. We believe the Bible teaches that if you believe this, you will become a follower. Every Sunday, at the end of service, we give you a personal, safe, and private opportunity to pray a simple prayer that expresses faith in what Jesus did for us all.
Baptism is a sacred practice designated by Jesus Christ himself as an outward sign of an inward decision to accept and follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is a symbol of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection as well as a symbol of a follower’s new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-5). If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, we encourage you to take the next step, which is baptism. There is a brief baptism class that is designed to provide you with more information about baptism and answers any questions you might have. We do not force people to be baptized, but we do encourage people to be baptized as a sign of obedience to Christ and as an outward expression of their faith.
Christ Community is a place for you to explore faith, connect with others, and experience life-change. You’ll hear messages that are relevant to your own life, and be surrounded by people who are seeking to get connected and grow just like you! If you’ve recently made a decision to follow Christ, are curious about building a strong foundation for your faith, or are new to Christ Community, then we personally invite you to join us for Next Steps. This two and one-half hour gathering will be a practical introduction to our faith and our church. We’ll be serving coffee and breakfast, and childcare is provided. At the end of the class, you are given the opportunity to complete the membership form if you choose to join our church.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. I Peter 4:10
What better way to share the love of Christ than by serving? We encourage you to get involved in ministry and use the amazing gifts God has given you to be a blessing to others.
